At The Base, we emphasize the Rickson Gracie Style of Jiu-Jitsu which is based on strong fundamentals, stand-up (Judo and wrestling), ground fighting, invisible details, efficiency and self-defence.

We leave the ego at the door and privilege volume and precision over brute strength. Your teacher is always there to guide you. At the Base, no bullying, no stupid rules, no ego involved. We train like professionals: the only thing that matters is your progression.
Jiu-Jitsu is the most effective Martial Arts. You will learn all the aspects of fighting: stand-up, clinch and ground fighting, with and without the Gi (Kimono). At the Base, we teach a Jiu-Jitsu based on the fundamentals, solid defense, profound technique: a very powerful Self-Defence system and a complete work out.
Competing is not our main objective. Our objective is your empowerment and your personal development as a Martial Artist.
If you want to compete, you will be trained for it, whether it's for BJJ, Nogi or MMA. But no pressure: 95% of the Jiu-Jitsu practicioners don't compete and there is nothing wrong with that. We teach Jiu-Jitsu as a Martial Art, a philosophy and a lifestyle before anything else.
Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone : young, old, male, female, flexible or not, strong or weak... it doesn't matter.
You don't need to be fit or flexible to start our Jiu-Jitsu Program, you will become fit, strong and flexible by training Jiu-Jitsu.
